Ich habe gerade eine Nachricht bei einer Ihrer ziemlich hilflosen Bloggerin hinterlassen die sich zum Lesen von Handke's VERSUCH UEBER DIE JUKEBOX durchgerungen hat. Sie mögen sich erinnern dass ich Sie so um Mitte der 90ziger Jahre herum fragte ob Sie als Verleger von Holt Rinehart in New York an einem Buch über Handke interressiert wären, und sie antwortete so ungefähr schon der Name bringt sie zum Großeinkauf von Ferent Branca. Vielleicht hat sich dieses Uebelwerden mindestens gemildert.   Ich wollte Sie deswegen aufmerksam machen und einladen an einem Blog Symposium teilzunehmen, dass sich an zwei miteinander verbundenen Themen richtet:

[1] warum haben sich so beinah alle Intellektuelle, Zeitungen, etc. die Serben verteufelt; und [2] warum wurde Handke und sein Werk in dem Sog dieses Meute Feldzugs so verhunzt. Wie Sie sehen werden, behandele ich [1] als einen so-gennanten "cold case"; und per [2], Handke ist mir kaum ein Heiliger und man könnte es schon anders machen können als er, und das einzige was ich an seinem Eingreifen auszusetzen habe ist dass er es nicht in sich gehabt hat, sich geweigert hat nach all dem was er tat und geschrieben hat als Verteidigungs Zeuge für Milosevics aufzutreten. Das Symposium wird auf dem im Aufbau begriffenen

SINCE THIS QUESTION ADDRESSES A COLD, AS IT WERE FORENSIC, ACADEMIC MATTER, IT MIGHT TURN OUT NOT TO BE SO CONTROVERIAL TO INVESTIGATE HOW SUCH AN AGREEMENT CAME ABOUT AND WHY THE NEED TO HAVE UNANIMITY WAS SO IMPORTANT THAT ANY DISAGREEMENT MADE FOR SECTARIAN HEAT.

 I AM INVITING A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HELD THIS POSITION, AND A LOT OF PSYCHOANALYSTS, AND OTHERS WHO HAVE GIVEN THE MATTER SOME THOUGHT TO ADDRESS AND DISCUSS IT.

[2] THE SECOND PART WILL EXPLORE HOW PETER HANDKE BECAME WHAT MIGHT BE CALLED COLLATORAL DAMAGE FOR DISAGREEING WITH THAT POSITION, WAS THEN DEMONIZED AND HIS WORK DISOWNED AND SHOWERED WITH ABUSE.

MY VARIOUS PIECES ON HANDKE'S INVOLVEMENT WHICH I WROTE TO PUZZLE IT OUT FOR MYSELF ARE POSTED HERE AS WELL. HANDKE'S ENGAGEMENT - MATTERS THAT HE REGARDS AS UNJUST HAVE BEEN THE OCCASIONS FOR SELF-DISPLAY FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND IF YOU "GO TO JUSTICE" AS HANDKE DOES IN HIS WRITINGS AND ACTION IT CAN HAPPEN THAT YOU BECOME INVOLVED IN SEVERE CONTRADICTIONS AND COMMIT A HOST OF INJUSTICES YOURSELF. C'EST LA VIE!

HANDKE MAY BE A VERY GREAT AND IMPORTANT WRITER WHO HAS MADE FUNDAMENTAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LOGOS AND ENLARGED THE POSSIBILITIES OF AN ACTIVIST LITERATURE TO READER WHEN HE HOLDS A PENCIL, HOWEVER ALL THAT, AND IT IS A GREAT DEAL INDEED, IS NO GUARANTEE OF SAINTHOOD.
